Are All Coupons Created Equal?

When flipping through your local coupon books, newspapers, mailers, etc., you would have to notice the upswing in the number of gold buyers offering "Bonus Payouts." Its a great way to attract attention - even we at Sell Us Your Gold do it as well. But the question is: Are all coupons created equal?

There are buyers who offer 5% extra payouts, 10% extra payouts, even as high as 25% extra. Do the higher coupons promise the best possible payout? The answer is no.

Be sure to read the fine print written on the coupon. Some buyers publish a higher amount of bonus cash, but expect a near impossible amount in order to achieve the so-called bonus payout. When pricing out your jewelry items, be sure to get a clear understanding of what unit the buyer is pricing in. Many in the industry are creating diversions by saying that they are paying high prices for gold and silver, when in reality they are just quoting in Pennyweight (dwt) versus grams. Remember, there is 1.555 grams per pennyweight, therefore the price per unit of a dealer who works in pennyweight will obviously appear to be higher. At Sell Us Your Gold, we provide consistency and honesty with our pricing assessment. If there is an option that will yield our customer a greater payout, we are happy to offer up this advice. There is no smokescreen, fuzzy math or trickery here.

An example of this is testing "upward" on your jewelry items. Most jewelry should have a stamp as to what metal has been used. Whether it is 14k, 10k, 18k, or their respective corresponding percentages (585, 417, 750) we are able to identify the metal by the stamp. But in the case of broken jewelry, many buyers will assume that something without a stamp will be a lower karat, i.e. 10k. However at Sell Us Your Gold, we will test the item for 14k and 18k to ensure that you maximize your payout - just as the customer who thought she was bringing in a 14k chain, but received 18k money after our testing.
